The first two games in the Women's NCAA Tournament Elite Eight were played on Monday night and two tickets were punched for the Final Four. As there had been for much of the tournament, chalk was in the air.
If there was ever going to be an upset, it probably would have come in the matchup of No. 1 Baylor and No. 2 Tennessee. I'm not saying Baylor is ripe to be upset, but you can never bet against Pat Summit. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. Baylor ran over Tennessee like they have in almost every game this season. Final score, 77-58.
The second game of the evening was No. 2 Duke against No. 1 Stanford, and there was enough chalk to make it to the late game. No. 1 Stanford rolled behind senior star Nneka Ogwumike and her 29 point 17 rebound double-double. Stanford rolled 81-69.
Elite Eight play continues on Tuesday with No. 2 Maryland Vs. No. 1 Notre Dame and No. 2 Kentucky Vs. No. 1 Connecticut for the last two Final Four spots.
