Every year, the Sun Belt Tournament is one of the first and earliest college basketball tournaments to happen. While the larger conferences are just kicking off their tournaments today, getting in some early-round action, the Sun Belt Tournament has already played two rounds and is gearing up for the semi-finals tonight.
In the Men's basketball bracket, the two match-ups tonight are a tad surprising. The top two seeds in the tournament (No. 1 Middle Tennessee, No. 2 UALR) were knocked out this weekend by No. 9 Arkansas State and No. 7 WKU in large upsets, so the final four teams are an odd mix. No. 5 North Texas will face No. 9 Arkansas State at 6:00pm, and No. 3 Denver will face No. 7 WKU at 8:30pm. The winners of these two games will face off in the championship game Tuesday at 6:00pm.
Meanwhile, the women's bracket looks more like you'd expect. Both of the top seeds have cruised through the tournament so far -- No. 1 Middle Tennessee and No. 1 UALR -- and both of the Florida schools have managed to stay alive in the tournament thus far. Today's match-ups are No. 1 Middle Tennessee versus No. 3 FIU (12:00pm), and No. 1 UALR and No. 2 FAU (2:30pm).
