2012 SEC Awards: Numerous Florida Gators Receive SEC Honors

The SEC award list for the 2011-2012 season has been revealed, and Florida Gators players took home plenty of honors.

Freshman guard Bradley Beal and junior guard Kenny Boynton were both named first team All-SEC selections. Beal was also named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, making him the first freshman in school history to be a part of both teams in the same season.

Senior guard Erving Walker received second team All-SEC honors, making this the third straight year in which he has done so. He is the first Gator to be on an All-SEC team for three consecutive years since Udonis Haslem accomplished the feat.

Sophomore forward Patric Young took hom the SEC Young Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Young currently holds a 3.7 GPA in telecommunications. Young is added to the list of former Gators who have won this award that includes Lee Humphrey and Ray Shipman.
