MEAC Tournament 2012: Bethune-Cookman Defeats Hampton In Semifinal

The wacky MEAC Tournament settled one half of Saturday's tournament championship match-up as Bethune-Cookman defeated Hampton 81-72 Friday night in Winston-Salem, N.C.

The win meant that the No. 4 seed Wildcats will face either Florida A&M or Norfolk State in Saturday's championship game.

Six Wildcats finished in double figures, led by Adrien Coleman with 16 points. Javoris Bryant added 15 points, while Ricky Johnson added 12 points and Paul Scotland and Kevin Dukes each added 11. For Hampton, Darrion Pellum scored 24 points to lead all scorers.

Bethune-Cookman took control of the game in the first half, breaking a 25-25 tie by going on a 10-0 run. The Wildcats led by as many as 18 points (47-29), and though the No. 8 seeded Pirates tried to rally, they could get no closer than five (70-65).
