Dwight Howard Denies That He Asked Magic To Fire Stan Van Gundy

Just about a week ago Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy did a careful little dance around a report that Howard had asked the Magic to fire the head coach. Howard appeared on ESPN this week and continued to deny that he had asked the Magic to make that move, here is a partial transcript from SB Nation.

"I saw some stuff come out where it was said, from sources, that I demanded that Stan get out of there. And I was like, ‘That’s crazy’. ... I haven’t said anything this season -- to anybody in management about, you know, you need to do this with Stan, or vice versa; they never said we’ll do this for you. ... Have I said it before? Ahh . . . Being upset, yea, I’ve said it, you know, but I’ve always come back and said I’ll do a better job, I’ll take more of a hit, I’ll lead better, I’ll do everything I can to get better."

At this point I don't think anyone believes Dwight, because why would Stan Van Gundy lie about it? Dwight has much more to lose if it seems like he is trying to run the organization. Either way, this does not look good for the Magic.
