2012 NHL Playoffs, Panthers Vs. Devils, Game 5: Florida Takes 1-0 Lead After Two Periods

It was a quiet opening 20 minutes for the Florida Panthers, but things have quickly changed here in the second period of Game 5. Following a scoreless first period, Kris Versteeg netted a power-play goal about four minutes in, to give Florida a 1-0 lead. Stephen Weiss and Brian Campbell were credited with the assist.

Currently, Florida has had little trouble getting shots on goal, leading the Devils in that category with relative ease, 23-17 and 12-6 during the second period.

Here's a closer look at Versteeg's second-period goal.

A win tonight would give the Panthers a 3-2 lead over New Jersey in the best-of-seven series and allow them to maintain their home-ice advantage.
