Masters 2012 Weather Update: Afternoon Rain Could Threaten Play On Thursday

The 2012 Masters is already underway at Augusta National, but there is some weather on the horizon that could threaten play later in the afternoon on Thursday. According to SB Nation, there might be some serious thunderstorms on the horizon.

The threat of showers and thunderstorms increases during the afternoon when we get into the heat of the day. Any storms that form could be strong and potentially severe with heavy rain, gusty winds and frequent lightning. High temperatures by the afternoon could reach the low 80s with winds out of the south-southwest between 5 to 15 mph. Rain showers and scattered thunderstorms should continue into the evening and overnight.

If there is one thing that Augusta National is known for, it's getting the course ready to play no matter what the conditions are. Even if there is a significant amount of rain tonight, the course should be back to almost normal tomorrow. But a wet course should open up the field for everybody, making it much easier to score.
