2012 Masters Winner: Bubba Watson Takes Title After 2 Playoff Holes Against Louis Oosthuizen

Following a long four days of exemplary golf, a winner finally slipped on the prestigious green jacket at the 2012 Masters in Augusta. It ultimately required a playoff to determine the winner, as Louis Oosthuizen and Bubba Watson put together fantastic final rounds to finished tied atop the leaderboard at 10-under following 72 holes of golf. It took two playoff holes, but Bubba Watson was able to take home the green jacket.

The sudden-death 18th hole led with Watson teeing off. Both golfers found the fairway on their first shot at the par-4. Watson found the closer approach as both men found the green with their second shots. They both had chances to sink winning birdies, but Oosthuizen went wide right and Watson went wide left.

Watson sliced into the trees off the tee in the second playoff on hole 10, while Oosthuizen wound up on the rough, although in fine position to recover. Amazingly, it was Watson who was able to find the green on his second shot, then sinking the par after Oosthuizen bogeyed to take home the green jacket.

More Masters: Tiger Loses His Cool

Third place in the tournament ended up being a tie between Lee Westwood, Phil Mickelson, Peter Hanson and Matt Kuchar. Kuchar and Mickelson made big late pushes to match the lead, but both would run out of time and come up short. Hanson faltered badly early on, but was able to salvage a round of even par.
