Florida State Baseball Ranked No. 1

One day after head coach Mike Martin won his 1,700th game ever, the Florida State Baseball team is now officially the #1 team in the nation - according to the USA Today/ESPN Coaches, Baseball America, and Perfect Game polls.

Tuesday, the #1 Florida State Seminoles will host the #4 Florida Gators, who start the season ranked first and have since fallen behind FSU, Kentucky and Texas A&M. Former #3 UNC has tumbled to eighth.

Florida State earned their number one ranking by sweeping the No. 24 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta, including a 2-1 victory in extra innings, a dominant 12-7 win on Saturday, and a decisive 8-4 victory on Sunday.

The Seminoles have only 5 losses on the season, the Gators have 7. Kentucky is the only ranked team with less losses than Florida State with 3.

Their match up with Florida will be aired on ESPN3 at 6:00, Tuesday.
