The Miami Marlins went on the road to Cleveland and opened interleague play with a 3-2 win over the Indians on Friday night. Carlos Zambrano danced around five walks against the Tribe, who were looking for their fifth straight win. Big Z gave up two early runs but battled through seven innings to keep the Fish in it. In seven innings, he gave up two runs on four hits while walking five and striking out two. A late rally in the top of the 8th inning handed him his second win of the season.
Backing up Zambrano, the Fish scored the winning run in the top of the 8th without ever getting a hit. Bryan Petersen drew a lead-off walk against Tony Sipp and was promptly moved over to second base by Jose Reyes. Joe Smith came on for the Tribe, and he threw it away trying to pick off Petersen at second. With Petersen on third, Hanley Ramirez brought home the winning run on a sacrifice fly.
The Marlins will go for the series-clinching win on Saturday with Anibal Sanchez on the hill.
