ACC Baseball Tournament 2012, Florida State And Miami: No. 1 Seminoles And No. 6 Hurricanes Open Postseason Play

The two nationally-ranked baseball powerhouses begin their quest for the College World Series.

For the ninth time in school history, the Florida State Seminoles will open ACC tournament play as the No. 1 seed, while Miami comes in as the No. 6 seed. The Seminoles will take on No. 8 Georgia Tech in game one on Wednesday, and then will also play Virginia and Clemson as part of pool play. The Hurricanes open with No. 3 North Carolina State on Wednesday and then also play North Carolina and Wake Forest.

The Seminoles wrapped up the regular season with a 43-12 record (24-6 ACC) and grabbed the first spot in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll. Miami finished with a 34-19 mark (16-14 ACC), good enough for No. 21 in the national poll.

All ACC tournament games will be played at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, North Carolina. Florida State plays Georgia Tech at 11:00 a.m. Miami then takes on North Carolina State at 3:00 p.m. No. 2 North Carolina plays No. 7 Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. to wrap up tournament play for the day.
