James Shields' has a chance to become the first starter in the Major Leagues to get seven wins. On the mound for the Tampa Bay Rays, the right-hander will try to help his team pick up the rubber game on Wednesday against the Toronto Blue Jays as the Rays look to keep pace in the America League East.
After five straight wins, Shields has lost two of his last three. During that stretch, he surrendered a total of 11 earned runs, walking eight and striking out 17. He could certainly use another offensive outburst like the one that powered the Rays to a win on Tuesday.
Trying to pick up a series win for themselves, the Blue Jays will give the ball to Ricky Romero. In six career starts versus the Rays, Romero is 4-2 with a 2.38 ERA. He earned a win over the Rays on April 17.
The game starts at 1:10 p.m. at Tropicana Field. Fans can watch the game on Sun Sports.
