The Connecticut Huskies and the University of South Florida Bulls will play for the Big East Championship this afternoon at 1:30 P.M. EST.
With USF facing elimination on Friday night against the number one seeded Louisville Cardinals, the Bulls came away with an improbable 6-2 victory on Friday night at Bright House Field. South Florida lost to undefeated UCONN Wednesday on the opening day of the tournament.
If South Florida is defeated by UCONN this afternoon, they will be eliminated and the Huskies will win the championship and earn a berth in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament. However, if the Bulls win, then both teams will play again tonight at 8:30 P.M. EST.
UCONN won the Big East regular season championship in 2011 but lost in the conference tournament to Seton Hall.
All Big East tournament games are being played at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Florida. Each game can be seen live at BigEastBaseball.com.
