2012 Big East Baseball Tournament: USF Defeats UConn, Will Face The Huskies Again Tonight For The Championship

The South Florida Bulls,still one game from elimination the 2012 Big East baseball tournament, defeated the UConn Huskies this afternoon by a final score of 1-0 and will advance to play Connecticut again tonight for the Big East Championship.

Pitcher Derrick Stultz took the mound for South Florida and pitched a shutout going nine full innings and giving up just three hits while walking two batters and striking out four. Jimmy Falla was the only Bulls player with a hit in the ball game, registering two and the lone RBI that proved to be enough to win the game.

For the Huskies, pitcher Brian Ward took the loss for Connecticut as he pitched five innings and give up the winning run while walking four batters from South Florida and striking out six.

The championship game will be played tonight at 6:30 P.M. EST.
