The number one seed Florida State Seminoles were shut out this afternoon by the Virginia Cavaliers by a final score of 7-0 this afternoon in Greensboro, NC.
Offense was hard to come by for the top seeded Seminoles as they mustered just five hits in the ball game. Deon Travis led the way with two hits and Jayce Boyd, John Nogowski and Stephen McGee each manged just one hit apiece. Pitcher Mike Compton gets credited with the loss as he pitched five full innings and gave up six hits and one earned run.
But the Virginia batters definitely got the better of Florida State pitcher Luke Weaver.
Weaver gave up four earned runs on two hits after entering the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as Virginia would put six runs on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning to close the Seminoles out.
