U.S. Open 2012: Tiger Woods To Play First Practice Round Monday

With the U.S. Open coming quickly, golfers will begin taking to the course at Olympic Club early this week to get in practice rounds. Among the pros to play on Monday include Tiger Woods who will be playing with his former teammate from Stanford Casey Martin as the Mercury News reports.

The marquee group for the beginning of U.S. Open practice rounds Monday features Tiger Woods, former Stanford teammate Casey Martin, current Stanford sophomore Cameron Wilson and Oregon State junior Nick Sherwood.

The foursome tees off at Olympic Club at 7 a.m. in the first group of the day. Master's champion Bubba Watson is slated to tee off in the second group 15 minutes later.

Casey has a very interesting story heading into the U.S. Open, as the current coach of Oregon's golf team defeated one of his own players to win the qualifier for the spot in the Open. It will be Casey's second appearance in the tournament, as his other appearance in a major came in 1998, which was also at Olympic Club.
