The Miami Hurricanes were eliminated from the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament with a 12-2 loss to the Missouri State Bears on Saturday. The Bears used a seven-run first inning to put the Hurricanes at bay, early. Canes starting pitcher Steven Ewing lasted just two outs before being pulled, giving up six earned runs off six hits and two walks. The Bears tacked on two runs in the second inning, and added three in the sixth to cap their scoring.

The Hurricanes did all of their scoring in the third inning. Chantz Mack scored Alexander Fernandez on a ground out. Peter O'Brien hit a single on the next at-bat to send Stephen Perez around home from third. Missouri State starter Pierce Johnson went eight innings and struck out seven while giving six hits and two walks.
