Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has been named the top seeded singles player for the men in the 2012 Wimbledon championships, where he will look to defend the title he earned in 2011. Since defeating Rafael Nadal in the 2011 Wimbledon, Djokovic has made it to the finals in each Grand Slam tournament, losing only in the 2012 French Open.
On the women's side, Russian-born Maria Sharapova is the top seeded singles player following her win in the French Open. After winning the 2004 Wimbledon, her first career Grand Slam victory, Sharapova has had some struggles at the tournament. In 2011 she reached the finals for the first time since her 2004 victory, but lost in straight sets to Petra Kvitova.
Andy Roddick is the 30th seeded in men's singles and Serena Williams is the 6th seeded in women's singles following her first round loss to Virginie Razzano in the French Open. The tournament begins on Monday, June 25.
