Tigers Vs. Rays: Tampa Bay Aims For Win And Series Split On Sunday

The Tampa Bays Rays (41-37) fell 6-2 to the Detroit Tigers (38-40) on Saturday, the team's 12th loss in the past 18 games. With the defeat, Tampa Bay fell 6 1/2 games behind the AL East-leading Yankees. Detroit has won two of the first three games in the series, and the Tigers will be looking for their first series win over an American League team since May 27.

Alex Cobb (3-4, 4.73 ERA) will be on the mound for Tampa Bay, coming off an absolutely horrific outing in his last start. Cobb allowed eight runs and 13 hits over eight innings in an 8-0 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Drew Smyly (2-3, 4.48 ERA) gets the ball for Detroit. Smyly has allowed at least four runs in six of his last seven starts. The rookie left-hander made his major league debut against the Rays on April 12, surrendering one run in four innings of work.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 p.m. EST at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.
