The Atlanta Brave slowly chipped away with one-run rallies on Tuesday night to take the second game of their series in Miami with a 4-3 victory. The Marlins offense shut down for the night after the second inning, and Atlanta starter Tim Hudson settled in before handed it off to his dominant bullpen which cleaned up in the eighth and ninth.
After the Braves opened the game with a run in the top of the first, the Marlins responded with a threat in the bottom half of the inning. Miami loaded the bases with two outs on a Justin Ruggiano single and a Logan Morrison walk. Hanley Ramirez then stepped into the box and drove a single to center that scored Greg Dobbs, but Ruggiano was thrown out at home to end the inning in a 1-1 tie.
Jose Reyes would break that tie one inning later when he hit his sixth homer of the season -- a two-run blast to right. But that would be it for Miami's offense, and Atlanta would respond with a run in the third and a run in the fourth to even things up again. Reliever Wade LeBlanc would take the loss in the seventh when he gave up a sacrifice fly to Jason Heyward, which scored Martin Prado for the winning run.
Miami will send Ricky Nolasco to the mound on Wednesday for the matinee finale. Tommy Hanson will pitch for the Braves in the series-deciding game.
