Marlins Vs. Padres: Miami Stumbles In Fifth Inning, Falls 7-2

The home-losing skid continues for the Miami Marlins. After giving up five runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, the Marlins' 2-0 lead quickly vanished and they fell by a score of 7-2 to the San Diego Padres on Friday night at Marlins Park, marking their nine consecutive loss in South Florida.

Starting pitcher Carlos Zambrano had tossed a scoreless first four innings, but imploded in the fifth, including walking in a run and giving up a three-run triple.

Miami wouldn't recover. It had originally taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth when a Jose Reyes triple scored Donovan Solano and a single from Carlos Lee drove Reyes in as well.

The second meeting of the teams' three-game weekend set is scheduled for Saturday at 7:10 p.m. EST.
