Miami Hurricanes Defensive Back Ray-Ray Armstrong Named To Bednarik Watch List

Miami Hurricanes defensive back Ray-Ray Armstrong was named to the watch list for the 2012 Chuck Bednarik Award for college football's most outstanding defensive player on Monday.

Armstrong makes the list despite having what most (including Armstrong) considered a "disastrous 2011 season." Armstrong was suspended twice for five games and considered leaving The U for the NFL. In seven games, Armstrong had 34 total tackles and one interception, down two from the season prior.

Of the four college football award watch lists issued on Monday - the Benarik, the Lott Trophy, the Rimington Trophy and The Maxwell - Armstrong was the only Hurricane named thus far, but over 20 different award watch lists are set to be unveiled through end of July.
