2012 London Olympics: USA Doesn't Medal In Sailing Women's 470 Event

After getting out to a strong start, the United States women's 470 sailing team finished competition in the ninth spot out of the fleet of 20 and were unable to earn a medal. The pair of USA athletes, featuring Sarah Lihan of Fort Lauderdale, FL, finished a distance 34 points behind Netherlands for the bronze medal and a further 29 points behind the gold medal winning New Zealand team.

Rounding out the medal podium was the host country, Great Britain, earning the silver medal in the event. With neither the United States or China earning a medal in the event, the race for the top medal count between the two nations is unaffected, although Great Britain pulls one medal closer to Russia for the No. 3 spot on the list.
