After the first quarter in the first preseason game of the season for the Jaguars, they trail the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, 10-7. Most notable for Jaguars fans, though, was the very successful drive lead by second year quarterback Blaine Gabbert.
On a 13 play, 89 yard drive, Gabbert completed four of seven attempts for 51 yards, culminating in a touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts III in the back corner of the end zone.
Gabbert's second drive ended before it hardly began, though, as Shorts III fumbled an end around on the first play of the game. In replacement of Maurice Jones-Drew, Rashad Jennings finished the first quarter with 42 rushing yards on seven attempts.
The Giants settled for a 34-yard field goal on their second drive of the game to cut the Jaguars lead to four and took a 10-7 lead with a two-yard touchdown run by D.J. Ware.
Derek Cox was removed from the game in the first quarter with a strained calf although the severity of the injury was not revealed.
