Aided by a sack/fumble of Blaine Gabbert, the Giants had no problem scoring on four consecutive possessions in the first half, including two in the second quarter to get out to a 24-14 lead over the Jaguars in the first half of a week one preseason game.
After his fumble, Gabbert was finished for the game and replaced by new backup quarterback Chad Henne who completed four of nine attempts for 28 passing yards and a touchdown pass to Brian Robiskie late in the first half. Running back Rashad Jennings finished the first half with 56 rushing yards on 12 attempts.
In Andre Branch's debut as a member of the Jaguars, he collapsed the pocket once in the first half, setting up a sack for Terrance Knighton, while fellow rookie Bryan Anger launched a 56 yard punt in the second quarter as well as a punt that was fumbled and recovered by the Jaguars inside the five-yard line.
