Buccaneers Vs. Dolphins Recap: Ryan Tannehill Solid, But Tampa Wins 20-7

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers opened the preseason in Miami with a 20-7 win over the Dolphins. The Bucs built an early lead behind Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount and then Dan Orlovsky came on and was impressive in relief. Orlovsky was a perfect eight for eight and led the Bucs on their second touchdown drive which was capped off with a Doug Martin score. The offense throttled down in the second half with Brett Ratliff and the third teamers struggling, but Kai Forbath added two field goals to push the lead to 13.

The story for the Dolphins coming out of their first game action will undoubtedly be the performance of Ryan Tannehill. Joe Philbin gave his rookie plenty of opportunity to sling it and he hit 14 of 21 attempts for 167 yards. Granted, much of it was against the third team but he still passed his first test. Tannehill had his first touchdown pass overturned on review at the end of the first half but he came back in the third quarter to hit Charles Clay for Miami's only touchdown of the night. It was an impressive performance that will have Dolphins fans enthused.
