2012 Summer Olympics Final Medal Count: United States Brings Home Most Overall

The final events of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England have been played, and the United States avenged their second place finish in the 2008 games by taking home the most medals this year.

They had already clinched the most medals and most golds by the end of the day Saturday, but they were able to add to their totals by winning the men's basketball tournament.

Here is a video breakdown of the top-five countries for the games, and a beautiful tribute to the United States winning the most that will be enjoyed by Sega Genesis fans.

The closing ceremonies of the 2012 games will be aired on NBC at 8 p.m. ET from Olympic Stadium
