2012 Ryder Cup: Tiger Woods Clinches Berth On U.S. Team

Tiger Woods has clinched a spot on the 2012 United States Ryder Cup team. This will be the seventh time Woods has participated in the international competition.

Tiger Woods is one of eight players that have clinched spots on the 2012 United States Ryder Cup team in the wake of the PGA Championship. Woods will be making his seventh appearance in the Ryder Cup on the United States team.

Despite having not won a major championship since the 2008 U.S. Open, Woods still leads all the qualifiers in points for Ryder Cup qualifying. The points are earned based on prize money earned and cuts made at events the last two years. The rest of the United States team for the Ryder Cup is a strong collection of golfers including Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson. Here is a complete list of all eight automatic qualifiers.

The 2012 Ryder Cup will take place at the Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois beginning on September 28.
