Buccaneers Injury Update: Da'Quan Bowers Hopes To Play In 2012

Despite the fact that he ruptured his Achilles tendon in May, Da'Quan Bowers is still aiming to return to the football field for the 2012 season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik expressed optimism that Bowers would play this season, and that the team will place him on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to begin the year, which means he'll miss at least the first six games.

"He's ahead of schedule in terms of his surgery was very successful," Dominik said. "His rehab has been very successful. The only thing we're doing now is limiting what he can do to try to keep him from overexerting himself because he feels so good."

There is undoubtedly a long way for Bowers to go in his rehabilitation from the injury, and a return in 2012 is not a guarantee for Bowers. Still, Tampa Bay's medical staff will continue to monitor him throughout the season, and hopefully deem him healthy enough to play at some point in the second half of the season.
