The Orlando Magic have hired Houston Rockets assistant coach Brent Gunning to the same position according to Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel.
Gunning spent the last four years with the Rockets, spending the first three seasons as the team's director of player development before being promoted last year. Before his time with Houston, Gunning spent the previous seven years as an assistant coach with the Villanova Wildcats.
The Magic have also hired Eastern Michigan head coach Rob Murphy for a position in the team's scouting department. Murphy led the Eagles to a 14-18 record in his only season in charge of the MAC school. Before his time with EMU, Murphy was an assistant under Jim Boeheim at Syracuse.
