Tampa Bay moved to add experience to their secondary on Monday, signing veteran corner Brandon McDonald while releasing rookie corner Desmond Marrow. McDonald, most recently with the Detroit Lions for two seasons, has eight interceptions and 162 total tackles in his six-year career.
Bucs Nation qualifies the move as a much-needed upgrade in experience, as Tampa is housing a very inexperienced group in the secondary:
McDonald gives the Bucs some extra depth at cornerback and competition for the many sub-standard corners the team is fielding now.
McDonald has started 29 games in his career and appeared in 69 totals, making him a graybeard in comparison to the rest of his unit. Still, the veteran might be best known for his... "colorful" Twitter battle with journeyman wide receiver Terrell Owens, when McDonald was a Cleveland Brown and T.O. was signed by the in-state rival Bengals.
