Jaguars Depth Chart Winners: Cloherty, Schaffer Make Case For Final Roster

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a couple of tough decisions to make when it comes to who makes the final 53-man roster. Alfie Crow of Big Cat Country saw a few on-the-bubble players who stood out during the Jaguars' Aug. 17, 2012, preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.

The offensive player that made the biggest impression on Crow was tight end Colin Cloherty, who continues to impress this preseason after a strong finish to 2011:

Colin Cloherty, Tight End: Cloherty has been someone a lot of fans have been high on after making a few plays when he was signed late in the 2011 season. On Friday night, Cloherty was second on the team in receptions and receiving yards with 3 catches for 35 yards, including a touchdown reception from quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Cloherty has turned some heads as a receiving tight end and may prove himself a tough cut.

On the defensive side of the ball, Crow sees undrafted rookie J.K. Schaffer taking advantage of opportunities afforded by the injuries that have plagued the Jacksonville linebacker corps:

J.K. Schaffer, Linebacker: Schaffer is an undrafted free agent out of Cincinnati and has been pushed up the depth chart with injuries at the linebacker position. He's shown some ability to get sideline to sideline and pursue the ballcarrier, as well as being a sure tackler. If Schaffer can show ability on special teams, he's got a shot.
