After tearing his ACL least season, Rashean Mathis will make his 2012 debut for the Jacksonville Jaguars in their next preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Mathis is expected to be the No. 1 cornerback when the season begins.
The Jaguars, though, plan to ease him into that role.
The starters are supposed to go deep into the second half, but the Jaguars are unlikely to let him play that long in his first appearance. Still, Mathis might lobby to play a bit longer than the coaches want him to.
Mathis and Aaron Ross are expected to be the starting cornerbacks in the preseason game. However, when Derek Cox returns from a hamstring injury, Ross will likely slide over to the nickel corner.
