There were 35 golfers that posted red scores at The Barclays on Thursday, but none of those was lower than the 7-under by Padraig Harrington. With eight birdies and one bogey, Harrington set the pace for the rest of the field.
Harrington is one of several notable names near the top of the leaderboard after the first round. Fresh off his win this weekend, Sergio Garcia sits at 5-under after Thursday's round. Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Ernie Els are tied at 3-under while PGA Championship winner Rory McIlroy is at 2-under.
It wasn't a great day for everyone, though. Florida native Boo Weekley shot a 7-over and is in serious danger of missing the cut.
Play will resume on Friday before the field is cut for the rest of the weekend.
