The last-place Miami Marlins are coming off an 11-4 thumping at the hands of the suddenly loaded Los Angeles Dodgers and will send P Josh Johnson in an attempt to even the series Saturday night. The Dodgers counter with Clayton Kershaw and a potential slew of newcomers.
The Dodgers acquired well over $250 million in payroll from the Boston Red Sox early Saturday in the form of veterans Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett in exchange for James Loney and a bunch of prospects.
Miami (57-70) could be the first team to see the new-look Dodgers (68-58), who are three games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West and 1 1/2 behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card.
