Wide receiver Marqui Hawkins told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he will take further recruiting visits despite being "solid" in his commitment to the Gators. The Columbus, Georgia native plans to visit Tennessee and North Carolina, and hasn't ruled out trips to Clemson and Auburn. Hawkins tried to reassure Gator fans that he isn't wavering in his commitment.
“I mean, they ain’t got nothing to worry about,” Hawkins said. “I just want to experience some other things, do things on my free time, and get out of Columbus. My commitment is solid to Florida. I’m not going to de-commit. I’m just visiting other places. I’m not going to change my commitment.”
Despite these promises, Hawkins' decision to take further trips could prove unsettling to Will Muschamp's staff. The Gators have already suffered one wide receiver decommitment this summer: Florida native Rodney Adams reneged on his pledge earlier this month. The Gators have two other receivers in the fold for 2013: 4-star Ahmad Fullwood and 3-star Chris Thompson.
