With the NFL's deadline for cutting down rosters from 90 to 75 players looming this weekend, the Jacksonville Jaguars have four rookie linebackers fighting for two or three spots on the team, according to Gene Frenette of the Florida Times-Union.
The Jaguars' fifth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, Brandon Marshall (UNLV), is competing against undrafted free agents, Joshua Jones (Elon), J.K. Schaffer (Cincinnati) and Julian Stanford (Wagner) for the final two or three roster spots at linebacker. With a 4-3 defense, Jacksonville's anticipated starters at linebacker for Week 1 are Paul Posluzsny, Daryl Smith and Russell Allen, according to Big Cat Country. Other than those three, though, the Jaguars have just one other veteran linebacker under contract in Kyle Bosworth.
With such a lack of depth at the position, and Clint Session on the physically unable to perform list, it's likely three of the linebackers could make the team, especially if they can make an impact on special teams.
