Jaguars Vs. Dolphins Will Feature Tribute To 1972 Dolphins

New, 1 comment

The Miami Dolphins are able to toast nearly every season to the downfall of the league's last unbeaten team, in honor of the 1972 Super Bowl Champions, as the team went undefeated through the regular season and the playoffs to win the Super Bowl. No other team has done that since the NFL/AFL merger, so it's a nice little feather in the blowhole.

The Dolphins announced on Wednesday that they will be honoring the 40-year anniversary of the 1972 team at halftime when the Dolphins welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to town on December 16.

Oddly enough, the Jaguars handed the Dolphins their worst loss in the playoffs in franchise history when the Jaguars defeated Dan Marino and the Dolphins 62-7. That game wound up being the final game for Dan Marino as well.

With a new bearing with the franchise including drafting first-round pick Ryan Tannehill to be the team's quarterback of the future, the Dolphins look to put on a good impression for that memorable team.
