Marlins Extend Contract With Jacksonville Suns

The Miami Marlins have agreed to a two-year player development contract extension with the Jacksonville Suns. Jacksonville, which is a member of the Southern League, has been Miami's Double-A affiliate since 2009. This extension ensures that it will continue in that capacity through the 2014 season.

After the jump, you'll find Miami Director of Player Development Brian Chattin's comments on the agreement.

"The Miami Marlins are pleased to extend our partnership with the Jacksonville Suns through the 2014 season. With its first-class facility, quality fan base and close proximity to our major league club, Jacksonville is an ideal fit for us. The Suns have been one of the best and most stable organizations in all of minor league baseball for a long time. We are proud to have them as our player development partner."

Jacksonville has won two Southern League titles as an affiliate of the Marlins.
