The Miami Heat have signed free agent guard Garrett Temple, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
Temple played in Italy last season, competing for AS Junior Casale, who were in Serie A last season the top level of Italian basketball. Temple averaged 9.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists for the club, who were relegated to Legadue at the end of the year.
Temple last played in the NBA during the 2010-11 season, where he played 24 total games between the San Antonio Spurs, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Charlotte Bobcats. Temple averaged 2.4 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists between the three clubs in just under 10 minutes a game.
The Heat have now signed 17 players for training camp and will have to cut at least two players before the season opener against the Boston Celtics on Oct 30. Temple will compete directly with Terrel Harris for the last guard spot on the Heat bench.
