Tiger Woods, who can win the FedEx Cup with a victory at the 2012 Tour Championship in Atlanta, has gotten off to a strong start on Thursday.
Woods, at -2 through nine holes, is two shots behind the leaders -- Justin Rose, who is done for the day, and Bo Van Pelt, who is through 16 holes -- at -4.
The course has played relatively tough in the first day, as only 11 of the 30 golfers are currently under par.
The field, which has been continuously cut down throughout the FedEx Cup, has some of the biggest names in the sport. Rory McIlroy, who comes into the tournament in the lead for the Cup, is at E. Phil Mickelson is at -1, while Hunter Mahan, Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia are tied with Woods at -2.
