Miami Vs. Georgia Tech Final Score: Hurricanes Win 42-36 in Overtime

It took overtime, but the Miami Hurricanes defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 42-36, after a late rally in Atlanta's Bobby Dodd Stadium. Led by senior tailback Mike James, Miami now improves to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the ACC.

The game was a back-and-forth affair, with the Hurricanes and Yellow Jackets trading leads up until the game's conclusion. After Miami established an early 19-0 lead, Georgia Tech would score 36 unanswered points, primarily on the efforts of Yellow Jackets quarterback Tevin Washington. Washington rushed for 47 yards and three touchdowns, two of which came in the second quarter.

The fourth quarter, though, was all Miami, as the Hurricanes rallied late to tie the game, scoring a touchdown on a 10-yard Mike James touchdown reception with 27 seconds left. That sent the game to overtime.

Georgia Tech received the ball first in overtime, but was stopped cold while going for it on 4th-and-1 from the 2-yard line. That gave possession to Miami who, on a 25-yard Mike James touchdown run, won the contest.

Box Score Hero: Who else but Mike James? James rushed for 89 yards and three scores and had three receptions for 24 yards and a score. James scored both the tying touchdown and the winning touchdown for Miami.

Rankings Ramifications: With this victory, it is conceivable that Miami could slip into the top 25, but not guaranteed.

But Did They Cover? Georgia Tech was a two-touchdown favorite heading into this contest, so that spread was most certainly not covered.
