The Miami Marlins were defeated by the New York Mets at Citi Field on Sunday, 3-2. Ruben Tejada brought in the game-winning run for the Mets in the ninth inning with an RBI single to shallow left center field.
With the win, the Mets sweep the weekend home series against the Marlins, who have continued to spiral as losers of four straight and six of their last seven games.
David Wright opened the game with a two-run shot that scored him and Daniel Murphy. The Marlins' runs came in the fifth inning -- on a Bryan Petersen sacrifice fly and later a Mets fielding error that allowed Gil Velazquez to score.
Tejada's late-game RBI-single buried the Marlins.
