The NFL has no shortage of rookie quarterbacks in 2012, with five rookies starting behind the center -- including Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
The folks over at The Phinsider, SB Nation's Miami Dolphins blog, have been keeping tabs on all five rookies every week, seeing how they stack up against each other. Unfortunately for Tannehill, he's dropped to the bottom of the pack in passer rating among rookie quarterbacks.
The five rookies are all showing strengths in some aspects, and making rookie mistakes in others. Tannehill has dropped to the bottom of the five rookies in passer rating and completion percentage, but to be fair, the team decided to start bombing the ball deep down the field in the second half Sunday, and most of those fell incomplete. RG3, meanwhile, continues to pace the field, with a passer rating over 100.
Robert Griffin III's passer rating is a cool 103.5, while Russell Wilson is surprisingly second among rookies at 86.2. Andrew Luck's rating is at 75.4. Brandon Weeden is fourth at 60.7, while Tannehill sits last, at 58.3.
Tannehill will have to face a surprisingly good Arizona Cardinals defense this weekend -- and he might have to do so without starting running back Reggie Bush.
Still, it shouldn't be too difficult for Tannehill to improve on his 58.3 quarterback rating.
