Dolphins Roster Cuts: David Garrard Released By Miami

Miami Dolphins quarterback David Garrard is going to be let go, according to a FOX Sports Jay Glazer, who said he received a text message from Garrard on his release. This was not a huge surprise as the Dolphins have already named Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback, and they also have Matt Moore, who will be the team's backup.

The need to keep Garrard on as a third-string quarterback was not necessary, and it did not help Garrard's case that he suffered a knee injury earlier in camp prior to the teams preseason opener which cost him snaps while he was trying to get his knee healed.

With Garrard missing time and still not as healthy as Moore or Tannehill it was a move the Dolphins felt they had to make by letting Garrard go and not carry three quarterbacks on their roster.
