JU Vs. Charleston Southern 2012: Final Score And Game Recap

One week after losing 58-0 to Georgia Southern, Jacksonville University has its first win of the season as the Dolphins defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 31-10.

A big fourth quarter for the Dolphins marked by a pair of special teams touchdowns was the key to victory, as the 21 points scored by JU in the fourth served as the game's margin of victory.

With just more than eight minutes left in the game, Terrance Bryant returned a Buccaneer punt for 55 yards and a touchdown. Six minutes later, Dolphins safety Jordan Dewhirst would return a Charleston Southern onside kickoff attempt for 44 yards and a game-sealing touchdown.

Offensively, the Dolphins had difficulty establishing a real rhythm or identity. JU earned just over 300 yards on the afternoon, with just 98 of those coming on the ground. Charleston Southern had even more pronounced offensive difficulties however, with just 67 yards rushing and three lost fumbles.

Box Score Hero: Rolan Milligan for the JU Dolphins played a major role out of the defensive backfield, forcing two of Charleston Southern's three lost fumbles on the day.

Rankings Ramifications: Neither Jacksonville nor Charleston Southern were ranked in the most recent FCS polls, and JSU is likely to remain unranked despite the win.
