BMW Championship 2012: Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh Hold One Stroke Lead

Vijay Singh tried to hold off Phil Mickelson for as long as he could, but sometimes golfers just get so locked in there is nothing that can be done.

Mickelson hit a stellar eight-under on Saturday to launch himself into a tie with Singh for the top spot on the leaderboard at the BMW Championship. It is a bit crowded at the top, though, as the two only hold a one-stroke lead on the field and five golfers are sitting with two strokes.

Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Ryan Moore opened the day trailing Singh by one stroke. Only McIlroy was able to keep pace, matching Singh for 3-under on the day to sit tied for second place with Lee Westwood at 15-under overall.

Woods and Moore's days were a bit forgettable. Woods was 1-under on Saturday to drop down to 13-under overall and Moore played himself a bit out of contention, going 1-over on the day.

Adam Scott and Robert Garrigus played their way into contention as both golfers hit 6-under on the day to tie with Dustin Johnson for fifth place. The trio sit two strokes back of Mickelson and Singh.
