2013 Capital One Bowl: Georgia vs. Nebraska game preview, location, history and more

After coming up just short of playing for the national championship, Georgia will play Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl.

Mike Ehrmann

Nebraska and Georgia each had an opportunity to play for a berth in a BCS bowl but, after coming up short, the teams will now meet in the Capital One Bowl.

A win in the SEC Championship game would have sent Georgia to the BCS Championship Game, but the Bulldogs lost to Alabama, 32-28. Despite the loss, the 11-2 Bulldogs still have a chance to clinch the school's first season with at least 12 wins since 2002. Georgia is also attempting to win its first bowl game since 2009. The Bulldogs will bring a well balanced attack into Orlando. Georgia ranks 20th in the country in points per game while ranking 17th in the country in points allowed.

Nebraska would have been headed to the Rose Bowl with a win in the Big Ten Championship, but the Cornhuskers were blown out by Wisconsin, 70-31. That loss snapped a six-game winning streak and sent the Cornhuskers to the Capital One Bowl for the second straight season. The Cornhuskers lost, 30-13, to South Carolina last season. Nebraska's offense is led by its rushing attack. The Cornhuskers are eighth in the country in rushing yards per game, averaging 254.5.

The Capital One Bowl will be just the second meeting between the two schools. The only other meeting came in 1969 when the teams met in the Sun Bowl.
