The Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide will face off in the SEC Tournament's semi-final round after each team handled their respective opponents Friday.
The No. 13 ranked Gators had no trouble with the LSU Tigers in the first game of the day, building up a 15-point first half lead before cruising to a 80-58 victory. A banged up Erik Murphy dropped a career-high 27 points for Florida while going 11-for-15 from the field and 5-of-7 from downtown. Murphy's game-high 12 rebounds also helped the Gators dominate the Tigers on the glass by a 42-26 margin.
As for the Tide, their matchup proved to be a tighter but ultimately they didn't have too much trouble against the Tennessee Volunteers in their 58-48 victory. Levi Randolph and Trevor Releford combined to produce 29 points and nine rebounds for Alabama despite both offenses struggling mightily at times. Alabama was also assisted by the Volunteers shooting 32.1% from the field and 50% from the charity strike.
The SEC Tournament still has two more games on tap Friday night with Kentucky facing off against Vanderbilt at 7:30 pm EST and Ole Miss taking on Missouri at 10 pm EST. The complete tournament schedule can be found here.
