If you see the name Billy Donovan on the Florida Gators' roster, it's not a mistake. The head coach's son, who goes by the same name, will be joining the team as a walk-on.
Donovan spent the last two seasons at Division III Catholic University before transferring to Florida, according to The Gainesville Sun.
"I’m looking forward to contributing any way I can," the younger Donovan said. "I’m excited to be a part of this team and to fill any role that helps make us better."
Because he is a transfer, Donovan will not be eligible to play until 2013-14.
Donovan averaged 5.9 points per game and 2.5 assists per game last season at Catholic. Before college, Donovan scored more than 1,000 points at St. Francis High in Gainesville.
The Gators will also be adding Orlando native Jacob Kurtz as a transfer. He is eligible to play for Florida this season.
